AND NOW, OUR THIRD NEWSLETTER IN HISTORY

We have gotten nice comments from many of you. We thank you for that. We are going to do everything the same this time and yet try to change for the better.  We also have a little better handle on the computer.

Hopefully you’ll be reading this towards the end of August and maybe even bless us with your presence this fall.   Our efforts to make this place more enjoyable and rewarding to you continue.

NEW GUN NEWS

At this time of the year, all the “new gun news is pretty much out and about already.  In general, a lot of the camo shotguns are still in short supply.  Center fire rifles are going to be tough to find in some combinations.  The new Browning over/unders are starting to show up Make sure you ask to see the 24 inch micro 20 Citori!  Ultra 300 mags are trickling in, again some combinations like laminate and stainless are scarce.  We are even more thrilled, than a few months ago, with how satisfied you Kimber owners are.  We also have two more months experience with Franchi shotguns and their new distributor Benelli.  Believe me its nice to see an old respected name like Franchi hooked up with someone that can do them justice.

GUN LAWS- FEDERAL AND STATE

There are too many places that make a living writing about gun laws, so we’re not going to attempt to reinvent the wheel here. We’re going to focus on how its working for both of us.  The burr in our saddle this month is the new state handgun form.  We all have to fill this out when buying a handgun. Well folks, the state dept. of Justice in its infinite wisdom, just redesigned the questions on the form. The language contained therein is the most confusing seen in a while. Complaints have been lodged.  But I still maintain that the people who run this program in Madison are the most helpful and pleasant in the world. They just need new script writers.  The Federal system is pretty much bug free.  Still occasional delays, we will see how life is in the fall busy time.

APPAREL AND ACCOUTERMENTS
FOR HUNTING  AND ALL THE OTHER STUFF

If  you have not come in and walked around the reborn ‘department’ you are missing something.  We have got 3 levels of clothing. Modestly priced, medium priced, and almost high priced. And it is ALL nice stuff.  Green camo- white camo- orange- brown- green and then some really really nice outdoor stuff.  Those flannel shirts came in a pile of sizes and colors. Extra xxs and talls / Different weights.  And for you wool aficionados, we got some Codet wool . All discount priced.  Trap stuff, that came late, that men or women will look good in. They won’t help you break any more birds, but you will feel darn good when you miss.

F O O T W E A R

LISTEN TO OUR BOOT STORY- we  had some great sales reps from some great boot companies- including Browning, Georgia, and LaCrosse. These guys have set up our boot choices really well. I mean, these are nice boots, really nice, for men and women.  As soon as they walked out the door, we discounted the heck out of these things.

C’mon in and look.

AND HERE IS A FISH STORY

For those of you  who remember, we said our fishing department was proving to be the hardest one to get back ‘up to speed’. Well, we are still working on it, and are compacting stuff for other fall stuff. But we had a heck of a good year in fishing. You liked the stuff. I don’t know if all those cleos caught any fish, but they sure caught a bunch of fishermen and women. Seriously, we are looking forward to making our fishin aisles better and better.

GUN SAFES

Our backs, and some of yours, are still sore from the 28,000 pounds of pure steel gun safes we unloaded in June and then reloaded into your pickups trailers and coaster wagons.  And the next load is due in late October . We do have 5 unsold models.

Stop in and find one you like and you can buy.  Apparently the ‘mood of the nation’ is such that firearm security concerns have made the safe manufacturing business a very good one to be in.   P.S. we are still working on our safe-like gun cabinet.

BOWHUNTING/BOW HUNTERS

Here we go again, bowhunting is right around the corner. The smell of fall will soon be in the air. Once again, its never to early to get things set up and to start practicing. Remember that perfect practice makes perfect. When the big one comes along, you do not want to miss. And to help you bag the mammoth deer, we have plenty of new products to help. Lots of camo clothes including some great new ultra quiet stuff. And scent-sorb for you real gamy hunters. And c’mon in and check out the new Reflex and Browning bows. Stands from Rivers Edge, Bigfoot, and Bandit. Lots more availabel.

So for now,  good luck and good hunting.   Paul ‘early riser’Tolvstad

OPTICS  (THAT MEANS SCOPES- BINOCS AND STUFF)

We have been having some fun with scopes lately. We took some time and hung a bunch of scopes on handguns.  And they turned into pretty neat combinations.  We just ordered another bunch for the same treatment.  Got some projecting laser sights and these were fun. (remember that projected reds are NOT legal to hunt with. But they are neat!!

And, we are putting together all our deer shotguns and we are going to put more different sights on these. Putting em all in one department.  You will be awed!!!!

And laser rangefinders. 400 yard type and 800 yard type- cmon in and try these, you will be amazed and you will ask yourself how you got along without one. Oh, and regular scopes?? Bunches of em. Lots of new very reasonably priced  models in the higher power ranges. And make sure if your around in the evening to try the night vision scope Lots of great binocs at reasonable prices. Nice stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our next two projects involve hanging as many different scopes as possible on deer and turkey shotguns.

AND NOW, THE LAST TRUE PURE SPORT LEFT IN AMERICA...

Yes, we are talking here about Crow Hunting.  And while we are on the subject, how come there is not a Crows unlimited,  or a feathered friend forever  organization to honor this animal?  We do have, a specially designed shotgun for this. What other game can you pursue with a shotgun in your hand and a centerfire slung on your back?
